Our immersive board and train programs give dogs the training, support, and love they need to be their best. By choosing a boarding program for your dog, you’re giving them the opportunity to receive individualized training. Your dog will spend time one-on-one with the trainer in a home environment and receive training in a variety of public locations, which means they’ll learn how to follow commands in the real world. They’ll also have plenty of time to run and play outside! We’ve learned that this kind of training, rather than training in a sterile facility with no real world distractions or obedience classes that only teach the bare minimum, helps dogs to thrive.

All of our programs are competitively priced and take place at our safe and spacious property in New Kent County, VA. You can’t put a price on the ways a well-trained dog will improve your life, but we do our best to make sure that the help we provide is accessible to anyone who wants it.

Each of our programs include an in-person or phone consultation to determine whether the dog is trainable, discuss any issues they’re having, and decide on reasonable goals for your dog. At the end of the program, you’ll also receive a thorough go-home training, where you’ll learn how your dog was trained and what you’ll need to do going forward to maintain their training. Be prepared to spend a couple of hours with us. Your dog’s training doesn’t end when they leave us – you’re committing to a new lifestyle. By following the same commands and structure we use during your dog’s program, you’re contributing to the best possible outcome!

Our programs also include a take-home e-collar. While we understand that there is stigma surrounding e-collars and prong collars, that has more to do with improper use than anything else. When e-collars and prong collars are used correctly, they’re humane and effective. By providing dogs with the boundaries, rules, and leadership they would receive as members of a pack, e-collars and prong collars allow us to emulate a dog’s natural state. We’re able to recreate the same rewards for good behavior and correction for negative behavior that your dog would receive from its pack leader.

During your go-home training, you’ll be thoroughly instructed in the proper use of your dog’s e-collar, including a role play where you’ll use it on yourself. You are an important part of your dog’s continued training, and we’re here to give you the tools you need to support them in a structured, yet loving way.

For previous board and train clients, we also offer boarding at a rate of $60 per day. During your dog’s boarding stay, we’ll provide basic maintenance training, as well as all the love and care you expect from Torpedo K9.

We don’t turn away any dogs due to breed or aggression – in fact, our programs are great for aggressive or reactive dogs. Aggression in dogs is a lot more than biting or growling, and many aggressive dogs only act out on occasion. Much of the time, they’re scared, in pain, frustrated, or guarding something that’s important to them. On the other hand, a reactive dog gets overwhelmed by certain stimuli or situations, and they’re acting out of fear. Aggressive or reactive dogs aren’t bad; they just need training. Whether you choose the three or four week program, our training will help reactive and aggressive dogs alike learn to make the right choices and become more comfortable in their environment.
